Everyone likes having a bit of spare change, but everyone loves free money even more. It’s a no-brainer that money is , and always will be, a major issue for virtually every living, breathing human on this great big planet of ours. Unless you’re part of the 1%, you’re no different. Many students– especially seniors applying to college– wait until spring semester to apply for scholarships but if you want to get ahead of the game, there’s no reason to NOT apply right now! If you’re a college student, any opportunity to receive money to help out your finances (whether it be for textbooks, living expenses, or just general pocket money) is a good deal. Similar to our “20 Scholarships to Apply for This Summer” article, we’re here to bring you even more extra ways to ring in some cash, from October all the way to December.


Snap Scholars Digital Marketing Scholarship

  • Award: $1,000
  • Deadline: October 5
  • Description: Students must be attending an accredited college or university and write a 1000-word article discussing a “cutting edge digital marketing tactic that is on the cusp of becoming incredibly important”. They must discuss “why and how it will change the way marketers promote their brand online”. For more information, click HERE.

Pelican Water College Scholarship

  • Award: Up to $1,500
  • Deadline: October 16
  • Description: This scholarship is open to students with a minimum 3.5 GPA who must write an essay answering the following question: “What are some ways to instill a greater sense of urgency with water conversation in young people and what would be the marketing slogan Pelican Water would use to highlight the new campaign?” A letter of recommendation is required. Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest

  • Award: $20,000
  • Deadline: October 23
  • Description: 34 finalists will be chosen, with 1 winner receiving the grand prize of $20,000. The contest is open to all undergrad and grad students who submit an 800-1600 word essay on one of three topics related to Ayn Rand’s novel, Atlas Shrugged. I Am…Scholarship Slam

  • Award: $1,000
  • Deadline: November 6
  • Description: Time changes, people change, and that’s not always a bad thing. For this scholarship, create a poem that explains the following question: what makes you…you? For more information, click HERE.

Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award

  • Award: $500
  • Deadline: November 29
  • Description: Applicants must have completed at least 50 volunteer hours and have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA. You must also submit a 1000-word essay on why you chose to volunteer with your organization(s) and how the experience(s) has impacted your life. For more information, click HERE.

Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest

  • Award: $500
  • Deadline: November 30
  • Description: Applicants must create a PSA that raises awareness of the “severity of the consequences of drunk driving among peers”. The video must be aimed at your peers and uploaded to YouTube. For more information, click HERE.

Bachus & Schanker, LLC Scholarship

  • Award: $2,000
  • Deadline: November 30
  • Description: This scholarship is open to seniors and current college students. Applicants must give their opinion over the “importance and efficacy of the 7th amendment” (which is more than just right to trial by jury) and its effect on their lives using more than 800 words. Mark A. Forester Scholarship

  • Award: $1,000
  • Deadline: December 21
  • Description: This scholarship honors “America’s military heroes”, especially those who have fallen. This scholarship is in honor of senior airman Mark Forester who was killed in September 29, 2010 in Afghanistan “while risking his life to save a fallen comrade”. To enter, applicants must be enrolled in college or be planning on enrolling by winter 2015. They must also write a 300- to 500-word essay discussing how to honor America’s military heroes. Better America Scholarship Program

  • Award: $1,000
  • Deadline: December 31
  • Description: Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university and must answer the following topic in 200 words or fewer: how do you intend to change America? For more information, click HERE.

Fitness Lifestyle Scholarship

  • Award: $500
  • Deadline: December 31
  • Description: This scholarship is available to students in high school and college. Applicants fill out this survey and answer the final question in 500-word or fewer essay . For more information, click HERE.

Born on the other side of the globe but raised in the Lone Star State, Ameera Khan is currently a rising freshman at the University of Texas-Pan American, where she is majoring in Premed-Biology under a BS/MD program.
