Most other seniors will agree with me when I say I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S ALREADY SPRING! With only two to three more months of high school left it’s hard not to start feeling nostalgic. Your normally uneventful walk to English has you recalling all the friends you met in freshman when your teacher failed you all on the first essay. You sneak a peek into your old algebra classroom and remember that time you got a thirty on a quiz and the world felt like it was ending. Even your lunch table begins to feel like a trap as the best and worst memories of the last four years wash over you, reminding you of just how much you are going to miss them next year.
This can be a lot to handle, but luckily you don’t have to say goodbye just yet. There’s still time to do all the things that you’ve always talked about but never gotten to do. Like stay out until one in the morning, go camping, or attend that Ed Sheeran concert you’ve been dying to go to for years. Whether your friends are adventurous, outdoorsy, introverted or completely insane here are some things that your squad must do before going your separate ways.
Whether it’s Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or Drake concerts can be a great way to spend a warm summer night with all of your best friends. With ticket prices starting as low as ten dollars, concerts can be a great experience for a group of friends on a budget. Not only can concerts be cheap they can also be very easy to get to. Look at your closest football or basketball stadium and I can almost guarantee you will be able to find at least one singer you can all enjoy. If you live in the New York New Jersey area MetLife Stadium has hosted a variety of singers from The Black Eyed Peas to Kenney Chesney to Taylor Swift. Music has the power to bring people together, and this will definitely be a night that you and your squad will not forget!
2. A Movie Night
As cliché as it might sound, a movie night is a cheap and easy way to get all your friends together. Have each friend bring a movie and a snack and order some pizza. Nothing is better than pigging out with all your friends while laughing at the ridiculously caddy fighting in Mean Girls or crying as Jack dies in the Titanic. You might even find yourselves tuning out the movie in favor of recalling some fond memories of the last four years and speculating about what is to come.
3. A Road Trip
This is the perfect way to end the summer, a road trip will undoubtedly create some lasting memories. Road trips can be a little pricey, but the more friends that go the less each of you will have to pay! Even something as simple as a two day trip can be a life changing experience. It’s a celebration of everything you have been through and a goodbye wrapped in one.
No matter what it is that you and your friends decide to do this summer, know that while leaving them might not be a choice staying in touch is. Making friends in college is definitely important but don’t forget about the people who stood by you when you through these testing four years.
