Going through high school we’re all assigned many different projects and assignments that we can some way or another weasel our way out of. Unfortunately, there is one bullet that none of us can dodge.
In a perfect world we would all do our work ahead of time — the citations, the sources, outlines, and whatever else the teacher needs. Unfortunately, in the era of social networking and random cat websites, procrastination reigns, leaving the situation to look a little like this:
So, you’re sitting in class waiting for the teacher to get up and give the usual lecture.
“Now I’m giving you plenty of time to do this assignment (3 weeks). This paper cannot, and I mean CANNOT be done in one day.”
With this assignment, you think you’ll be different. You’ll actually manage your time and get it done weeks in advance so that you can chill.
But of course that doesn’t happen. You don’t want to be working on a boring research paper when you could be spending your precious time reaching Tumblr’s maximum post limit for the day.
Without even realizing it, week one suddenly slips away and all you’re worried about is chilling with your friends.
Then suddenly you’re done with week two, with thoughts of the paper receding to the dusty corners of your mind. The only thing that was accomplished was practicing selfie poses in the bathroom mirror.
And of course, finishing the whole Breaking Bad series on Netflix.
Suddenly it’s week three and the paper has completely left your mind. You keep getting that feeling that you’re forgetting something, but oh well, you have much more important things to worry about.
Like practicing your seduction skills.
“You know, the research paper we got like three weeks ago…” Then it suddenly dawns on you that the paper was what you were forgetting.
You know that if you fail this you will fail the class, and then your parents will be like this when they see that F or D on your report card.
You catch yourself nodding off sometimes. So of course its coffee time!
It’s getting to 11 and you still only have half a page double spaced..
But you persevere and FINALLY manage to finish an hour before you have to get ready for school.
And in the end you regret nothing and will probably do it again.
